The waiting room is one of the most common spaces in modern life.
Here, time is suspended, identity is simplified to that of a waiter, and
unknown diagnostic results leave everyone in a liminal state between
anxiety and hope. This exhibition borrows the metaphor of this everyday space to explore how 8 artists from different cultural backgrounds connect the past with the present, and construct a "waiting room" that belongs to our era within contemporary art practice.
In this "Waiting Room" collectively constructed by & artists, we are
invited to reconsider the meaning of waiting. Waiting is no longer passive consumption, but an active state of being where we are allowed to exist between multiple states. Perhaps the final answer can never be confirmed, but in the process of waiting, we discover possibilities for thinking, observing, and creating. This waiting room reminds us that dwelling in uncertainty may well be the most authentic state of existence for contemporary people.
